Bryan's Landing Mitigation Area

Ironwood Mitigation Advisors is pleased to announce the addition of a unique Galveston Island wetland mitigation site to its portfolio. This latest project, Bryan’s Landing Mitigation Area, offers a mosaic of coastal habitat comprising 105 acres of tidal fringe, estuarine wetlands, freshwater, and coastal uplands that support an array of critical ecological services, as well as diverse flora and fauna. Bryan’s Landing marks our seventh available mitigation site falling within the USACE Galveston District.

Texas is the Nation’s second largest state for waterborne commerce, annually generating more than $14 billion in local, state, and federal tax revenue. With the rapidly developing Gulf Coast, the scarcity for suitable mitigation lands on Galveston Island is a true rarity.

While these diverse coastal ecosystems are critical to supporting our economy, they also sustain and protect the state’s ever-growing population from natural disasters such as hurricanes, bearing the brunt of storm surges and thus reducing negative human-health and economic impacts.

The purpose of mitigation banks is to provide a source for off-site compensatory mitigation of unavoidable adverse impacts to wetlands, streams, and Waters of the United States authorized by the USACE under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act.

Visit our website to explore the comprehensive array 11 projects consisting of approved and pending banks as well as permittee-responsible mitigation sites throughout Texas.
