Ironwood represents the adjacent 4,500+ acre pending Frentress-Johnson West Bay Mitigation Bank and permittee-responsible mitigation site. The habitat predominantly comprises freshwater emergent and estuarine emergent wetland communities with the remaining acreage consisting of scrub-shrub, coastal prairie and open water habitat.
