Catherine Perry Bryan Mitigation Area

Ironwood Resource Advisors is pleased to announce the addition of a unique Matagorda County coastal wetland mitigation site to its portfolio. This latest project, Catherine Perry Bryan Mitigation Area, offers a mosaic of habitat comprising over 400 acres of estuarine and palustrine habitat with tidal fringe, high marsh, low marsh, marine deepwater, and freshwater emergent wetlands that support an array of critical ecological services. The site lies proximate to the Justin Hurst Wildlife Management Area and the San Bernard National Wildlife Refuge. This project is currently available for Permittee Responsible Mitigation for the San Bernard and East Matagorda Bay watersheds.

Texas is the Nation’s second largest state for waterborne commerce, annually generating more than $14 billion in local, state, and federal tax revenue. With the rapidly developing Gulf Coast, the scarcity of suitable mitigation lands on the Texas Mid-Coast is apparent.

While these diverse coastal ecosystems are critical to supporting our economy, they also sustain and protect the state’s ever-growing population from natural disasters such as hurricanes, bearing the brunt of storm surges and thus reducing human-health and economic impacts.

Catherine Perry Bryan marks our fourth Texas coastal mitigation site which includes Bryan’s Landing on Galveston Island, Bahia Grande on Laguna Madre, and Frentress-Johnson West Bay Mitigation Bank on Chocolate Bayou. Visit our website to explore the comprehensive array 13 projects consisting of mitigation banks and permittee-responsible mitigation sites throughout Texas.
